On Sunday June 24th, 15 community volunteers joined SBMTV crew leaders and Forest Service Ranger Kyah Laporte to maintain the western section of Jesusita trail.
One mile of trail was opened up by trained crew leaders using powered brush cutters, volunteers followed clearing the trail of the cut brush. A “special ops” handsaw team cleared the
section of trail of a number of hazardous fallen trees and “deadmen”
(dead trees and branches overhanging the trail and that could
potentially injure trail users).
The work day was followed up by a Santa Barbara Chicken Ranch lunch and refreshments at McKenzie Park. Participants left satiated and tuckered-out from the day’s work.
Statistics for the day:
– one mile of trail brushed
– 15 volunteers
– 4.5 hours of work
– 67.5 total hours of work (15 x 4.5 = 67.5)
– $1632.15 total donation in kind to Santa Barbara community through volunteer hours*
SBMTV will be returning again to Jesusita Trail on July 8th to do it all again on another section of trail in need of care. Check out SBMTV’s events for more information!
